Ready to be part of the ultimate Halloween event? Haus of Horror is searching for talented scare actors to bring our immersive haunted experience to life. We’re teaming up with one of Australia’s biggest entertainment brands for a massive, month-long collaboration, and we need performers who can turn fear into fun.

1. What roles are available? We are looking for Scare Actors, Character Performers, and Interactive Actors. Each role involves different levels of interaction with guests, from lurking in the shadows to engaging in live-action scenarios and games.
2. What are the event dates and times? The event runs from 2nd of October to the 3rd of November. Event hours are approximately 5 PM to 9 PM Sunday through Wednesday, and approximately 5 PM to midnight Thursday through Saturday. Call times will vary and could start as early as 3 PM for makeup and preparation. These times are subject to change.
3. Where is the event located? The event will take place in Alexandria, Sydney. All actors must be able to travel to this location for their scheduled shifts.
4. Is this a paid position? Yes, all positions are paid. Pay will be determined in accordance with the Live Performance Award [MA000081].
5. Do I need previous experience to apply? While previous experience in acting or scare roles is a plus, it is not required. We welcome applications from all experience levels. We’re looking for enthusiasm, creativity, and a passion for delivering an unforgettable experience.
6. What are the age and eligibility requirements? All applicants must be at least 18 years old and have the legal right to work in Australia. You will be required to provide two forms of ID during the hiring process and consent to a background check.
7. How do I audition? Auditions will be held virtually. You’ll need to submit a video response to two questions and upload a headshot. Detailed instructions will be provided once you start the application process.
8. What should I include in my audition video? In your audition video, we want to see your personality and what makes you excited to join our team. You’ll have 1 minute to introduce yourself and share any relevant experience or special skills. You’ll also have 30 seconds to show us what you think is scary. Get creative!
9. How long will the hiring process take? After submitting your audition video, our team will review your application. If you’re shortlisted, you’ll be contacted for a virtual interview. We aim to finalise the hiring process by mid-September.
10. What should I wear during the event? Costumes and makeup will be provided based on your role. However, you should wear comfortable black undergarments and plain black shoes that allow for movement, as you’ll be active throughout your shift.
11. Will there be any training provided? Yes, all hired actors will undergo training sessions before the event begins. These sessions will cover safety protocols, role-specific duties, and how to interact with guests.
12. What are the safety measures in place? The safety of our actors and guests is our top priority. We’ll provide detailed safety protocols during training, and there will be on-site security and medical staff during all event hours.
13. Can I apply if I have other commitments during October? We’re looking for actors who can commit to the entire month-long event, including the training sessions. However, if you have specific availability concerns, please mention them during your application, and we may be able to accommodate them.
14. How will I know if I’ve been selected? If you’re selected, we’ll reach out to you via email with an offer and further instructions. All auditionees will be contacted with an outcome of their application.
